Poetry: I Take Your Name to Bed With Me
Apr. 14th, 2006 12:19 pmTitle: I Take Your Name to Bed With Me
Pairing/Characters: Unrequited Snarry
Rating: PG-13?
Warnings: Le angst.
Summary: There should be a word for love, hate, lust, and envy all mixed together.
I take your name to bed with me
And wear it like a skin
I flinch beneath my hands and loathe my stain
I have resigned myself to be
An icon of my sin
A useful, hated foil to your gain
I memorize your mouth and eyes
Your posture, and your smile
I etch them into shadows on my wall
I confiscate or overhear
The whispered facts and lies
And ponder whether you, or He, will fall
I hoard your life and hang it on
The corner of my mind
I writhe inside an altar to your health
I snatch your soul and all its flash
And study in the dark
The wretched, weeping outrage of its wealth

Date: 2006-04-15 04:41 pm (UTC)I think it's "Snarry." Except that I really kind of dislike the mashed-up pairing names. ANYWAY.
I am not a poet so I have nothing useful to say about this, but I do like it. It strikes me as very Snape, snatching what pieces he can and taking them out in the dark.

Yeah, it seems like most anything positive in his life, he's had to snatch just to have. Which would make instant, unearned fame pretty covet-worthy.
