stuttermoan: (time-turner)
The previous time, it was just some goof on DeviantArt. I reported the theft and the offending pieces were removed from the site.

This time, two of my fan poems were published in an actual ink-and-paper book published by Scottish publisher, Lapwing Publications. The book is entitled "Shaded" and is for sale on various websites. The "author" identifies herself as Ven Findlay, although she is alternately listed under the name Kirsty Bell.

The two pieces lifted from me are:

1) "Safety in Unwanted Things" - Originally posted by me in this journal on August 9, 2006. Posted by me later that month on fanfiction.net.

The "author" appears to have posted at least part 1 of this same poem, as seen here. Parts 2 and 3 may be there, but those pages are not supplied by Google.

2) "Keep You" - Originally posted by me in this journal on August 31 of 2005. Posted by me in February of 2006 on fanfiction.net.

The "author" lifted the entire poem, unchanged.

Ridiculous.

Since this is fan work, I posted it without the intention of making profit. I posted it as a celebration of the Harry Potter series and its characters. I shouldn't be surprised, I suppose, but I am. It really burns me up that someone would lie and steal like this. She stole from me, and she lied to Lapwing Publications, which appears to be a genuine and professional publisher in all other regards.

I have emailed the publisher, requesting that thy cease selling the book containing the stolen work. I have found the blog and email address of the "author," although I'm not sure there's any specific point in contacting her. Does someone who knowingly steals from a stranger have any genuine regret for her actions, other than the fact that she got caught?
