Future Implications
Jun. 2nd, 2007 01:45 amThis is insanely interesting.
The past few weeks with FanLib and Strikethrough '07 have been a very visible example of how subcultures (multileveled, overlapping) operate and protect themselves/each other. I've been keeping my head down, mostly, but I've got to say, this is an amazing chain of events. The kind of thing that denotes broader social change in the future. (But...I might be reading too much into this, as I do with pretty much everything.)

Large more or less tight knit communities can be built between people who don't live in the same town or continent. This can certainly be used for good and evil and for totally pointless stuff. In any case, it's different. The people and their motivations don't seem different to me, though.
